Brinzolamide/brimonidine — Definition

Brinzolamid/brimonidin / Brinzolamide/brimonidine
Brinzolamide/brimonidine is an ophthalmic drug with a combination of constant dose, which is used to lower intraocular pressure. Brinzolamide is a carbonic anhydrase inhibitor and reduces the production of liquid in the eye; brimonidine increases both liquid production and drainage as an alpha-2 adrenergic agonist. This combination is preferred especially when it is not provided enough control with single agents in patients with open angle deficiency or ocular hypertension. The drug is applied as a drop twice a day and is recommended to close the eyelid after nasal congestion to minimize systemic side effects.
