Leigh syndrome with nephrotic syndrome — Definition

Nefrotik sendromlu Leigh sendromu; leigh syndrome is a neurodegenerative disease that is transmitted to mitochondrial respiratory chain defects. This variant, which is seen with Nefrotic syndrome, is characterized by damage and protein in the kidneys. The disease usually begins in early childhood and shows symptoms of nephrotic syndrome, such as edema, hypoalbuminemia and hyperlipidemia, in addition to neurological findings. This combination is a rare phenotype that mitochondrial dysfunction affects both central nervous system and kidneys.
