pemphigoid — Definition
Pemfigoid / pemphigoid
Pemfigoid is a bullous disease of the autoimmune, characterized by the formation of subepidermal büller (in liquid filled bubbles). The disease occurs due to the hemidesmozom proteins in the basal membrane zone (especially BP180 and BP230). The most commonly seen form is bullous pemfigoid, and it is often observed with itching, stretched ribs in older individuals. Mukoz membrane retention is less pronounced and pemfigus does not appear in acantolysis (intercellular connection loss).
