Retinitis is a genetically passed retinal dystrophy, also known as pigmentosa 27, RP27. This disease causes degeneration of sensitive cells (photoresepters) in the back of the eye. Clinically characterized by night blindness, peripheral vision loss and progressive vision area contraction. RP27 is specifically associated with mutations in PRPF31 gene and indicates autosomal dominant inheritance.
