tabes dorsalis — Definition

Tabes dorsalis is a neurological complication late period of sifilizine (frengi) and affects the backgrounds of spinal cord, especially dorsal roots. This condition is characterized by loss of propriosepsion (body position feeling), atlaxis (coordination disorder), sharp pains and reflex loss. The disease occurs as a result of invasion to the nervous system of the Treponema pallidum bacteria, and leads to a progressive disability if it is not treated.
